Salty bacon is paired with sweet dark chocolate for a salty sweet snack that's sure to be a hit.

Total Time 28 minutes
Servings 24 pieces

Ingredients

  • 12 strips bacon, each sliced in half
  • cup melted coconut oil, or other oil of choice
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate chips, melted
  • Sea salt, optional
  • Icing, optional
  • Sprinkles, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375° F. Line one baking sheet with aluminum foil, and line another baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside parchment-lined sheet.
  • Place halved-bacon strips on aluminum-lined baking sheet, closely together. Bake for 9-12 minutes, flip, and bake for another 9-12 (or maybe even longer - thicker slices will need more time). You want them to be crisp, but not burned and you don't want the edges to be curled. When done baking, place on paper towels to dry and cool.
  • Melt chocolate. For dipping purposes, you want to thin out the chocolate a bit. Add oil to chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and heat in microwave in 15 second increments, stirring until completely melted and smooth.
  • Dip each piece of bacon in chocolate, and place on prepared pan to dry. If desired, sprinkle some sea salt on the dipped end as well. If so desired, decorate with icing or sprinkles.
  • If your house is cool enough, let them sit out to dry. Otherwise you can expedite the process and place the sheet in the fridge and they should be set in about ten minutes. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

I like to use two overlapping sheets of aluminum foil on a rimmed baking sheet for cooking the bacon to ensure the grease doesn't spill out.
