FROSTING RECIPES

This homemade cream cheese frosting recipe is easy to make, slightly sweet, tangy, and is perfect on Valentine's Day red velvet cupcakes! It pipes beautifully and holds its shape – you’re going to be putting this frosting on everything.

QUICK & EASY

Grab the ingredients: cream cheese, unsalted butter, vanilla extract, powdered sugar (and optionally, white gel food paste).

step 1

Use a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or a hand mixer to cream together the cream cheese and butter.

step 2

With the electric mixer running on low speed, gradually add the powdered sugar until it’s incorporated and well combined.

step 3

Add vanilla extract and beat on high speed for a few seconds to combine.

step 4

If desired, add a few drops of Bright White food gel paste and beat again to combine. Continue adding gel a couple of drops at a time until the desired level of white is reached.

step 5

Place the frosting in the fridge for 10-15 minutes before frosting your baked goods. This allows it to cool down and thicken, which allows for easier piping and spreading.
