There’s been construction underway for a while at an adorable building across the street from one of my favorite breakfast spots, 5 South Main, in Cohasset. Eventually they put up a sign that said “Seabird Coffee, coming August 2017!” and I was super excited. I’m one of those people who loves a good coffee shop, and I’m not just there for the coffee. Of course I want a great cup of coffee, but I’m also looking to feel cozy and welcome. I want to be able to curl up with a mug of coffee without being pressured to leave. Maybe relax with some light background music. And, of course, I would never say no to a selection of pastries or other baked goods.
I saw that they’d opened last Monday, but I don’t live close enough to stop by before I go to work, so I had to wait until this weekend to give it a try. Sniffle sniffle.
Saturday rolled around and by chance, Bill and I had woken up pretty damn early. We decided to grab breakfast at 5 South Main and then check out Seabird Coffee. The exterior is perfectly New England, with exposed brick and white trim. They have a small outdoor seating area with bright yellow chairs. And the interior is everything I wanted!
Exposed brick that’s painted white with lots of neutrals and pops of blue. Succulents and other small plants are sprinkled about.
It’s basically how I want my future home’s kitchen to be decorated.
The staff is lovely and welcoming, including Christen who manages Seabird’s Instagram page. And I’ll tell ya, she’s done a great job! You can spot her below helping prep some drinks.
We both opted for an almond milk latte (no dairy for us, womp womp), but I noticed you can opt to top your drink with “salted sea-foam” and that seriously intrigues me – that’s on the list for next time.
Since we’d just eaten, I didn’t partake in a pastry but ohhhhhhh did I want to. I definitely will next time, believe you me.
As we waited for our drinks, I admired all the little details. Wicker baskets, glass carafes, mugs, real maple syrup (!), and chic signage dedicated to Speedwell Coffee.
Our drinks were perfect – not sweet, but also not bitter. Not too hot. Beautiful latte art. AKA: Exactly what I wanted. We got ours to go, but I saw others with adorable mugs and saucers… I was a lil’ bit jealous.
We opted to sit outside since fall is approaching and the mornings have the crisp, cool sea air that I love so much.
And of course, I had to pet the dog that was outside every few minutes because omgcutedog.
Just look at that face.
Sorry puppy, no coffee for you.
If you’re in the area of Cohasset, MA, make sure you check them out at at 24 S Main Street.
And let me know you’ll be there so we can meet up kthxbye.
I can’t wait to try more of their menu, and I wish Christen and team all the success in the world!0
