A delightfully colorful and fruity collection of sorbet and sherbet with a playful name that’s perfect for a hot summer day!
Guys. GUYS. I have some pretty awesome news, and it involves puns and shopping local (well, local to me at least). The tl;dr of my story is that social media has the ability to bring people together over their love for puns ❤
The non-tl;dr is this:
If you follow me on my social media channels, you’ve seen that I’ve declared Fridays #foodpunfriday and I share some of my favorite food puns. A few weeks back, I got into a Twitter back and forth with the eternally hilarious and punny Pun Pantry. If you’ve never heard of them, you have to check them out. It’s hard to pick a favorite in their shop, but I’m a big fan of this Amazing Cider-Man shirt. I mean… come on.
Anyway. One of the people behind Pun Pantry and I got to talking and decided that there was an opportunity here for us to partner up to share our love for food and puns. They come up with amazing puns, and I turn them into food. So basically, it gives me a reason to be as weird as I am 😉 And as part of that new collaboration, I introduce to you the first of many new recipes dedicated to the art of puns: Miley Citrus Rainbow Sorbet.
Now, I’m going to be upfront and admit that I’m playing it a bit fast and loose with both “rainbow” and “sorbet”. Technically, this isn’t a full rainbow of colors and technically, not all the flavors are sorbets (a few include coconut or almond milk, making them more of a sherbet). But hey – I got pretty darn close and I’m counting that as a win! I just wanted a colorful arrangement of frozen treats that would be the perfect treat on a hot summer’s day. My personal favorite in taste is the strawberry, but I am in love of the look of the kiwi and it’s beautiful green color, peppered with its seeds.
The name is meant to be a fun play on Miley Cyrus’ name and a bit of a nod to her newest single “Malibu”. I’ve never been a fan of her music, but I will concede that the song is catchy. I mean, doesn’t this seem like exactly the thing you’d want to dig into while digging your toes into the sand on a Malibu beach, under the summer sun?
Since I’m trying to lose weight and keep it off (meaning eating little to no ice cream loaded with all my favorite things – waaaaaah), it definitely is for me.
