Does anyone else get supper bummed when grilling season is over? I mean, if you live in a place with temperate conditions all year, I guess you can’t relate. But for those of us in New England, we cherish the (seemingly) short amount of time we get to be outside, grilling a bunch of hamburgers for friends after a trip to the beach. Mind you – there are some pretty hardcore people who grill year round and will hover over the grill for warmth while bundled up like a yeti, and while I appreciate their commitment… it’s not for me.
That’s why I was beside myself when I heard Calphalon’s new line of appliances that are exclusive to Target included an indoor grill! [insert raised hands emoji here] For one, you know how much I love Target. Going in there and not coming out with the entire kitchen section, six end tables, twelve adorable mugs and an area rug every time I’m there is so much self restraint it’s basically a skill at this point. I’m considering putting that on my resume.
Anyway, back to the excitement. So, I dove right for the Calphalon Precision Control™ Multi-Grill, but there a bunch of other appliances that might be up your alley, too: there’s a countertop oven, blender(aff link), slow cooker, and I think there might even be more. It was all a beautiful black matte blur.
Click on the image below to purchase your very own! You won’t regret it.
Here’s the thing about all this: We’re already a Calphalon household (whether or not we built ourselves out that way intentionally or not is still undetermined), so we’ve got a bunch of Calphalon cookware and appliances on our wedding registry. When I found out that I would have the opportunity to add to our collection, and it wasn’t even something I knew existed until that moment, it was like winning the Suzy Homemaker lottery.
One of the biggest reasons we’ve always gravitated toward Calphalon products is because they deliver precise results. Every time. There’s no guessing, and we don’t have to play that game of “Well, we know that side of the pan runs hotter than this side, so I’ll just cook these eggs at an angle. This is fine.” We even have a large saucepan that one of the furchildren (cough, Puck the cat, cough) knocked off the counter a few months back (which is a terrifying sound in the middle of the night, FYI) and onto the kitchen floor, and it’s still kicking! So to say that they’re durable and careful about their craftmanship is an understatement. All their pieces go well together in our kitchen and provide this sort of effortless and functional elegance. Pinterest perfect, I believe is the term the kids use these days.
Do I sound like a fangirl? That’s okay, because I am. C’mon, don’t act surprised – they’re the #1 cookware brand in the United States for a reason, my friends.
Alright, let’s talk about this grill, shall we? The Calphalon Precision Control™ Multi-Grill is a beautiful black matte and has scratch-resistant ceramic removable plates. Since you can just pop them off, it makes them super easy to clean – just wait until they’ve cooled enough that you can remove them, k? They’re lighter than I’d expected them to be, which is crazy because evidently the cooking surface they produce is 11x more durable than your standard nonstick surfaces. And as you guys know, I’m all about the Calphalon durability!
It has a removable drop tray in the back, which will come in handy when you have some juicy hamburgers or steak on this bad boy. The knob in the front can be set to different temperatures, which I love – I hate guessing when it comes to cooking, especially when you’re working with meats. Having actual temperatures as opposed to only low, medium, high is going to be huge for me, but there’s still a “Low” setting on this if that’s what I need in the moment.
I’m gonna be honest here… my favorite part about this thing is the little LED indicators on the front. It tells you when it’s on (so you can’t mistakenly think it’s off, only to find yourself with some nice fresh red tattoos on your hands), when it’s preheating, and when it’s ready. Helllooooooooo no more guesswork.
I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to make first to christen the new addition to our appliance family, but I finally settled on — you may want to sit down for this — a dessert.
I KNOW. Try to maintain your composure through all the shock you must be experiencing right now.
I wanted food in my face as quickly as possible, so this recipe is nice and easy: Grilled Cinnamon Pound Cake S’mores. Nothing complicated, no crazy ingredients, and you too can be eating these chocolately, marshmallowy sandwiches in a matter of minutes.
Just grab your favorite s’mores toppings, which can include but are not limited to chocolate and marshmallows.
Next up, grab some pound cake. You can buy a frozen loaf, an otherwise premade loaf, or whip up a homemade loaf with your favorite recipe. Whatever your pound cake-loving heart desires.
You’re going to sprinkle it with some cinnamon and sugar, and then sear it to get some nice grillmarks and warm it up to prep it for the rest of the ingredients.
Add your toppings! In my case, it was chocolate, marshmallows, and some caramel sauce because I have no self control.
But remember – you don’t have to worry about that caramel sauce dripping onto the plates because it’s so freaking easy to clean up.
Now add the other piece of pound cake on top, and gently pull down the lid and lightly press into your sweet, sweet sandwich. This isn’t like a burger where you want to really push down to sear it, you need to have a lighter touch.
Once you notice your marshmallows and chocolate have gotten nice and melty, you’re ready to carefully remove it from the grill with a spatula. P.S.:Whatever you do, do not use a metal spatula! You don’t wanna scratch your brand new kitchen toy. C’mon now.
Drumroll, please…
Ohmygod, yes. It’s everything I want in s’mores, coupled with everything I love in pound cake. Buttery, soft cake, melty chocolate and caramel, gooey marshmallows… YES.
I’m not gonna lie to you, this can be messy to eat. To be perfectly honest, that’s part of what I love about it, because if you’re eating s’mores and you’re not covered in sticky marshmallows and chocolate, DID YOU EVEN EAT S’MORES, BRO?
If you don’t like the messiness factor, just grab a fork and dig in! I won’t judge.
These are so easy to make, and a cinch if you’ve got a crowd with a couple small modifications:
Open the grill into it’s 180° position, which gives you twice as much real estate for grilling.
Heat the marshmallows over a stove burner with a skewer, or on a plate in the microwave. Get them heated up and ready to go before you put them on the bread with the chocolate, and then you can just place the other piece of pound cake on top, smoosh it down and you’re ready to go!
Doing it this way means you can have twice as many grilled cinnamon pound cake s’mores sandwiches ready for guests in about the same amount of time. Voila!
Side note: If you’re like me and you like to drool over gorgeous kitchenscapes with elegant appliances, check out Calphalon’s Instagram page. I don’t understand how they make everything look so perfect, yet effortless. I really don’t. It’s maddening, but in the best kind of way.
If you’re not into that, but you’re looking for some fabulous new recipe ideas, follow Calphalon on Pinterest. I’m particularly fond of their “Decadent Desserts” board – surprise, surprise.
And if you’re looking to get a jump on your Christmas shopping (for others or yourself, not judging), I highly recommend adding this Calphalon Precision Control™ Multi-Grill to your list!

Ooey, gooey marshmallows and melty chocolate are sandwiched between buttery, cinnamon sugar-coated pound cake and grilled for an indulgent s’mores treat!
Scale
Ingredients
For coating the pound cake slices (will coat about 4 slices – just double as needed):
2 tablespoons butter, very soft (almost to the point of melting)
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
For the s’mores:
Your favorite pound cake
Your favorite chocolate, cut or broken into pieces
Marshmallows (large, cut in half or mini marshmallows)
Optional: crushed graham crackers, thin apple slices, caramel sauce, other fruits or favorite toppings!
In a small bowl, stir together butter and brown sugar until completely combined.
Coat each side of each piece of pound cake with the butter mixture.
Open the grill and carefully place two pieces of pound cake (2 for each serving – feel free to do more at a time) on the face. Gently press down the top of the grill and heat for a couple minutes. You want to get nice sear marks!
Add chocolate, marshmallows, and whatever toppings you would like on top of one slice of pound cake, and then top with another slice of pound cake. Gently press down the top of the grill again and heat for a few minutes – you want to see your chocolate and marshmallows get all gooey and melty.
Carefully remove your s’mores sandwiches from the grill with a spatula (or whatever you have on hand, as long as it’s not metal – you don’t want to scratch the plates of the grill) and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
Note: This can be a bit messy to eat, so if you don’t like the messiness factor, just grab a fork and dig in!
