Chicken Shawarma Pita Pizza

Seasoned shredded chicken and homemade tzatziki sauce are served atop pita bread for a Middle Eastern favorite turned into single serving pizzas!




  • 1 chicken breast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon dill weed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • Dash of salt
  • Dash of pepper


  • 2 pieces of pita bread
  • 1/4 cup hummus
  • 1/4 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1/4 cup kosher pickle, diced
  • Cilantro, for garnish



  1. Combine all ingredients in a large ziplock bag, and massage the bag to coat the chicken. Marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours (I prefer overnight).
  2. Grill the chicken until cooked through. Let cool a bit, then shred the chicken.

Tzatziki Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients. Place in a ziplock bag and set aside.


  1. Spread the hummus evenly across the top of each pita.
  2. Sprinkle the diced cucumber evenly across the top of the hummus.
  3. Cut a small corner of the ziplock bag full of tzatziki sauce and drizzle on top of each pizza. Garnish with a few cilantro leaves and enjoy!
