I’m not a mother, but I certainly know plenty! I also know that their tastes will be all over the map – I mean, seriously all over the place. I have one friends who now has three children and she’d love nothing more than an at home pedicure kit, and another who has two kids and wants horseshoes for her horse. They’re both about taking care of your feet, so… yay for self care (human or otherwise)?
My point is that everyone is different – so if you’re struggling to come up with a last minute Mother’s day gift for that “suzy homemaker” type, here are some favorites of mine that a mother in your life might enjoy, too.
KitchenAid is a classic
Warm weather is upon us, and for me that screams ice cream season (although, to be fair it’s always ice cream season to me). Maybe she’d enjoy a new KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment so that she doesn’t have to rely on ice cream stands to be open seasonally anymore! If she’s not into ice cream, check out some of these other KitchenAid products that might tickle her fancy.
Supplies for her creative side
Maybe she needs to restock her cake decorating supplies – in which case I highly recommend a reusable pastry bag and this set of Wilton decorating tips. I’ve been using those tips for years and they’re still in perfect condition! With regard to decorating supplies, there’s a heck of a lot more where that came from.
King Arthur Flour is tried and true
I’ll tell you right now – if someone gifted me with a basket full of King Arthur Flour products, there’s no way I could get mad at them for anything ever again. Okay, fine – maybe eventually… but not for a long time. I’ve had this KAF “Bake” mug for years and it’s still my go-to when I want a giant cup of coffee (that may or may not be spiked with Baileys). And speaking of coffee, I also swear by their espresso powder – you’d be amazed at what a difference it makes in chocolate recipes!
Beautiful, food-filled books
If she loves to read, loves beautiful photography, and loves food – then a cookbook is probably right up her alley! A few of my personal favorites are Sally’s Baking Addiction, Over Easy: Sweet and Savory Recipes for Leisurely Days, and (my all time favorite, for the more vulgar woman in your life) Thug Kitchen: Eat Like You Give a F*ck .
None of those a good fit? Check out some others.:
Back to basics
If she’s all set on the appliance front and she’s not big into baking, maybe you should think about getting her some Williams Sonoma kitchen towels. I got this set (just a different color) as a housewarming gift last year, and they’ve been simply wonderful.
Some people (like myself) are all about practicality. I would quite honestly rather get a gift of something that I know I’m going to need, rather than something that I’d consider to be frivolous. If your mom is like me in that regards, consider making a gift basket of supplies for around the house! Get a cute basket (or even better, a reusable pail) and fill it with Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning set, some pretty ocelo no-scratch sponges, and a scented candle.
When it doubt, send food!
If you’re still not sure what to get, you really can’t go wrong with the delivery of food. It requires no effort on her part, and she’ll get to try new things!
NatureBox: If you use the code GET3, she’ll even get three free snacks in the first order!
Love With Food: This is another prepackaged snack service, but what makes them stand out is that they donate a portion of their proceeds to organizations like Feeding America and The Global Food Banking Netwhelp to fight childhood hunger. I bet mom would love to know that you’ve helped make a difference in a child’s life! AND right now if you use the code “supermom” on a 6-month plan, you’ll get $10 and a free box. How can you say no to that?!
HelloFresh: If you think your mom would like to try some new, inventive meals without all the hassle of shopping for ingredients, searching for recipes, worrying about wasting food, etc. you should send her a HelloFresh weekly meal delivery! Even better, if you sign up with my referral code you’ll get $40 off your first box!
